I'm Christine Barnes
Christine, has grown up in Eaton County and purchased her home, with her husband Tim, right here in House District 78. Barnes has always felt compelled to work and serve locally. Her experiences serving those in our community thru Eatran, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), Labor of Love, Meals on Wheels, The Legion, The VFW, the Kiwanis Club of Grand Ledge, Stevens Ministry, and the National Wild Turkey Federation has afforded her the opportunity to meet many friends and neighbors.
Christine E. Barnes is an NRA Instructor. She saw a need for professional, accountable firearms training. Christine became interested in firearms when she decided she was going to conceal carry. Taking note the deficit of female instructors and wanting to serve the community, she did what she did best and began to solve a problem. Christine and Tim together have trained over 8,000 students from their neighboring communities. Making Christine one of the leaders of firearm training in the state of Michigan. Her back-ground has been in Business Management and Accounting.
Barnes is ready to bring the same level of work ethic to her campaign as she did when she was elected to the Eaton County Commission. Her Husband and their wonderful family and friends have given Christine their unconditional support.
OUR ISSUES
Mandates
When big government mandates threaten to literally strip away the rights of the citizens of Michigan to make the best medical decisions for themselves, we cannot remain silent. We as Michiganders have lost too much in the last 2 years. Regardless of the pandemic, our Constitutional Freedoms MUST not be infringed. I will always lead the fight to ensure Constitutional freedoms are not stolen by an overreaching government.
Gun Rights
As an NRA Instructor for the last 8 years our 2nd Amendment rights has been a focus in my life daily. I have been TWICE rated an AQ rating by the NRA, this is the highest rating a candidate, who has not taken a legislative vote, can be given. I have TWICE been given the endorsement of the Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners. I am a proud partner and member of USCCA. It is absurd that Michiganders pay some of the highest concealed carry permit fees in the country.
Right To Life
As a candidate at both the county and state level, I have proudly received the endorsement from Michigan Right to Life 3 times. I have attended many RTL events around the state helping to raise funds both as an attendee and contributor. I believe in protecting the sanctity of life from the CRADLE to GRAVE. I will always be a champion of pro-life values and stand with Michigan Right to Life's legislative strategy.
THINGS I BELIEVE
* I believe in backing our Police and Sheriff Departments.
* I believe in "real" Government transparency. No more hidden money.
* We must fight to end corruption and loop holes in our system that only serves elected officials in Lansing.
* The State nor Federal Government have NO business in our Public Schools.
* We cannot allow ANY Governor to politicize the State Health Department in an attempt to shut down our Businesses and Schools.
* NO CHILD SHOULD BE MADE TO WEAR A MASK.
